Liposuction
A more balanced, attractive you
While other cosmetic surgical procedures lift or tighten skin, liposuction permanently removes unwanted fat, allowing your plastic surgeon to sculpt a new shape to the area treated. You may choose to have liposuction alongside other procedures. Dr. Roth and his team will talk to you about your surgical goals and advise you on the best surgical technique for you as an individual.
Sculpted, toned, and defined with liposuction
Liposuction is completely versatile because it can remove fat from any area of the body. Treatment typically targets the abdomen, hips, love handles, saddlebags, buttocks, back, arms/axilla, inner/outer thighs, and chin. In many cases, patients opt to combine liposuction with other cosmetic procedures to achieve a more transformative result.
The results are long-lasting, enabling you to maintain a healthy weight and a figure you feel confident with. Usually carried out under general anesthesia (in some cases an epidural anesthesia might be used for liposuction on lower body areas), Dr. Roth and his team are experienced in liposuction, delivering fantastic results.
Once anesthesia is administered, Dr. Roth will make a small incision- carefully dislodging the fat which is often suctioned out. The suction tube removes the excess fat cells; once this is complete any excess fluid is drained before the treated area is stitched up. Your incision sites are secured with dissolvable sutures, healing within two weeks. Patient must wear a compression garment for about six weeks.
When the anesthesia wears off, you may have some pain for several days (this can be controlled with prescription medication). Post surgery redness and swelling are normal. Final liposuction results are clearly visible no later than 12 weeks after surgery.

What is recovery like?
Your incision sites are sealed with dissolvable sutures, healing within two weeks. Patients must wear a compression garment for about six weeks. Post-surgery swelling is normal; but if it lasts for weeks or more, you should contact your surgeon. However, as the swelling continues to subside, you will enjoy a sleeker, more youthful figure, and a huge boost of confidence.
Recovery from liposuction is usually easy and relatively quick. Liposuction procedures are typically outpatient, so the patient should expect to return home that day. If you’re getting outpatient surgery, be sure to arrange for a ride to drive you home after surgery. They or someone else should stay with you at least the first night. However, an overnight stay in our surgical facility can be arranged if you want, which is advisable after a large volume of fat removal. If a small area was treated, you may be able to return to work after a few days. If a large area was treated you may need up to 10 days off.
You will need to avoid strenuous activity for the first few weeks, but you will typically be able to return to work in less than a week. We will always make recommendations to you before your treatment so that you can plan ahead.
Dr. Roth will be glad to assist you with all of your questions and surgical needs. Book your consultation today!
